Hey everyone!
Welcome to our very first devlog! We’re incredibly excited to take you behind the scenes of our game development journey. This project is being built in Unreal Engine, and it’s been a wild ride already. We’re combining solid gameplay systems with a vibrant and authentic setting—Marrakesh—to bring something fresh and immersive to life.
Conception Phase – From Dream to Draft
We started with a simple question: “What kind of world do we want players to explore?” That question led us to Marrakesh—its colorful streets, rich history, and energetic atmosphere. It was the perfect match for the vibe we wanted. From there, we began fleshing out the core vision and style of the game, sketching early concepts, and defining gameplay pillars.
Core Mechanics – Laying the Groundwork
Once the vision was clear, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work on the base mechanics. Here’s what we’ve built so far:
- Character Customization System: From outfits to facial features, players will be able to craft a unique avatar.
- Movement System: Smooth third-person movement with parkour elements—gotta feel good moving through Marrakesh’s rooftops and alleys!
- Vehicle System: We’re developing a flexible car base system for both exploration and high-speed action (yes, drifting through the medina is possible).
Art & Level Design – Bringing Marrakesh to Life
Recreating Marrakesh has been both a challenge and a joy. Our team is pouring love into every market stall, alleyway, and rooftop. We’re taking a stylized-realism approach—capturing the soul of the city while keeping performance and gameplay in mind. The goal is for the environment to feel alive, full of stories, and worth exploring.
What’s Next?
Coming up, we’ll focus on interaction systems, AI behavior, and the beginnings of narrative integration. And of course, we’ll keep refining the look and feel of Marrakesh as we go.
